Respect 101: Anger Management for Men

10-Week Hybrid Group Begins March 31st

Using cognitive-behavioral and biblical principles, this unique class will help men to get the respect that they need in a healthier way.

This class is designed to address the complex issue of anger in a healthy and constructive way, focusing on both cognitive-behavioral principles and biblical teachings to help men manage their emotions, particularly anger. The core idea behind combining these two approaches is that it provides a well-rounded and holistic framework for understanding and addressing anger.

Purpose of the Class:

The unique combination of CBT and biblical principles in this class creates an opportunity for transformation on both a psychological and spiritual level. It’s about helping men:

  • Understand the root causes of their anger, from both a cognitive-behavioral perspective and a faith-based viewpoint.
  • Learn healthy coping mechanisms and strategies for managing emotions.
  • Heal and strengthen relationships with family, friends, and colleagues, moving away from destructive anger toward constructive conversations.
  • Grow spiritually, finding peace and healing through biblical wisdom, which is especially valuable when traditional therapeutic methods don’t fully address spiritual concerns.

Cognitive-Behavioral Principles:

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) emphasizes the link between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It teaches that how we think about situations influences how we feel and act. Through this, men will learn to recognize negative or distorted thought patterns that fuel anger.

By identifying and challenging these patterns, men can replace them with healthier, more rational ways of thinking. For example, instead of immediately getting angry when things don’t go as expected, they might learn to pause and reframe their thoughts to feel more in control of the situation.

Biblical Principles:

The biblical approach adds a spiritual layer to the healing process, encouraging men to lean on their faith and biblical teachings to guide their actions. The Bible offers various teachings that can help manage anger, such as:

  • Self-control: Galatians 5:22-23 speaks of the fruit of the Spirit, which includes self-control. In the context of anger, this means being able to pause, reflect, and make wise decisions instead of reacting impulsively.
  • Reconciliation and Forgiveness: Matthew 5:23-24 emphasizes the importance of resolving conflicts and seeking reconciliation with others. By focusing on forgiveness, men are encouraged to address their anger in a way that promotes healing rather than further division.
  • Seeking Peace: Proverbs 15:1 says, “A gentle answer turns away wrath.” The Bible offers wisdom for approaching anger with a spirit of peace and humility, which can guide men toward healthier ways of interacting with others, especially when under stress.

CrossPoint Clinical Services:

CrossPoint Clinical Services serves as a resource for men who are struggling with anger and the impact it has on their personal lives. By offering this class, they aim to create a supportive environment where men can receive the help they need to not only manage their anger but also restore and strengthen the relationships that matter most to them. The ultimate goal is for men to emerge from the class feeling more equipped to handle their emotions in a way that fosters respect, understanding, and emotional health.

In short, this class isn’t just about managing anger—it’s about transforming it into something that promotes personal growth, healthier relationships, and a deeper connection with one’s faith.
